AbstractThe diffusive information preservation (D-IP) method, a molecule-based scheme, has been extended to simulate decaying and forced homogeneous isotropic turbulence, and validated by comparing with the corresponding DNS results. Furthermore, the Lagrangian statistics of relative dispersion in homogeneous isotropic turbulence calculated directly by D-IP show that molecular motion significantly affect the relative dispersion when the initial separations of molecular pairs are less than the Kolmogorov microscale.
