AbstractThe analysis on the residual stress producing in the cooling process of a thermal cycle in TBCS system is conducted by ANSYS FEM code. The effect of TGO on the residual stress in TBCS system and the failure mechanism of TBC in the process of serving under the condition of thermal oxidation are investigated in this paper. The results have shown that the maximum residual stress is in the interface of bond layer/TGO and TGO layer, and increased with the incrassation of TGO layer. One of the key factors resulting in the failure of TBCS is the incrassation of TGO layer in the process of serving under the condition of thermal oxidation in TBCS.
