AbstractThe information preservation (IP) method is extended in this paper to include the case of temperature variation. The IP velocity <()over right arrow> and IP energy e (or IP temperature T) are introduced. They migrate with the simulated molecules and are governed by the momentum and energy conservation equations. The method is illustrated on the example of rarefied gas between parallel plates with different temperatures. Comparison of the IP simulation result is made with experimental data, DSMC calculation and solution of non-linear Boltzmann equation.
